Chat Lag
Chat Lag
a lot of people suffer from a lag in chat making playing cg's such as quiz's and letters game difficult to win, heres some help with improving the lag.
on your main internet page top right corner there is a box marked tools click the box and scroll to internet options and click on it
this will bring up a pop up box where it says browsing history there are 2 boxes click on delete and another pop up will apear un check form data, history, and passwords just to save having to retype them all once youv deleted lol. this should help speed up your chat.
also doing a system defragment on your computer/laptop will also help a great deal
RE: Chat Lag
my problem is similar to this but seems a bit more complicated to sort out. we recently switched from aol to orange internet providers, and although my hubbys computer is working perfectly, i am having problems with mine. pages are really slow to load, and when on woohoo, chat is intermittent and keeps sticking. chat will run normally for a few mins then stop, after a while it catches up on itself, works for a few seconds, then stops again. i would be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions to help sort this, i have already unistalled google chrome and adobe flash player and reinstalled them, and have cleared cookies, cache and done a system defrag.
RE: Chat Lag
it could be a number of things maybe theres a problem with your internet itself if you are using wifi it could be a bad signal due to your internet provider a signal enhancer can sort it out no problem and also there is software that can speed up your internet, if its a dsl cable your using it could be that the cable itself makes it run slow and changing that might sort out your internet, without knowing exactly what you are running i cannot be more specific in helping. im usually in lounge when im on here you can pm me and i can help go through it with you.
RE: Chat Lag
thanks so much for trying to help. I am using wireless, which is saying excellent signal strength, and am receiving this through a wireless adapter, which i have uninstalled and then put back in. So sorry to try to sort this out in the forum, but cannot pc u as have no chat lol. anything u could suggest would be appreciated, thanks again
RE: Chat Lag
its not a problem i dont mind.
have you tried changing your antivirus and firewall settings that can cause this effect but also you could have some sort of virus, shutting down any running programmes i dont know if you use a p2p file sharing programme but that also has an adverse effect on internet speeds if still running.
what anti virus are you running? and what operating system?
RE: Chat Lag
hi twisted, i have tried turning off my anti virus and changed the firewall settings, and still no improvement. i just cant seem to get it to work like it did before. i am not sure what u mean by what operating system, does that mean like windows xp? thanks for trying to help, and if u or anyone else can think of anything else i could try, i would be really grateful, this is getting really frustrating now
RE: Chat Lag
Try turning your router on and off and also clearing tempory internet files n cookies xx
RE: Chat Lag
yes windows is your operating system. if your using avast norton or bulldog guard as your anti virus remove it put in avg free and do a full scan, also this comes with a one use pc tune up run that too, im used to having the pc/laptop in front of me its much easier to find the problem lol,
in the tools section on your browser bar theres an option for manage adons, check in there to make sure your flash player is enabled, do this befor changing anti virus
