Bells On Cats Are For Bird Protection ... Use Them!

Added by wiccachilde on Wednesday, 17th February 2010 at 8:32am

It is not cruelty to cats to put a bell on them. It is however the simplest way for cat owners to protect the wildlife from these roaming killers. Once upon a time cats were in fact predators, things have changed. They are well fed, mostly well groomed and basically 'fat cats' with spare time on their paws to 'play' and injure and murder little creatures for the pleasure of play. In a country where people take pride in the protection of their wildlife habitats I find it amazing that people protect the cats right to terrorize and damage innocent creatures and straight up refuse to 'Bell' their cat. If you're British and proud of your wildlife here and you own a cat please, Please I am begging you! Please bell your cat.

I don't agree with what you say at all. Cats are born to kill creatures, what's next turn my corn snake veggie? I will put a collar and bell on my cat if you pay the vets bill when he gets stuck on a fence, or worse still you can tell my children when the cat's found dead hanging from his collar.

we put a bell on our cat n he came home not once but twice with mice hanging from his mouth so they dont scare off mice or birds so no point in him having one anyway especially as he always comes home without it .........so god knows wat damage he does to himself or how he gets it off ...

Yes, of course it is. Cats are natural predators, they are supposed to hunt. I don't love mine killing things but thats what they do. Does anyone bother when they munch insects? I wonder???
